Bankura, March 1: The children’s doctor accused of raping a teenaged deaf and mute girl at the Bankura Sammelani Medical College Hospital on Monday evening was arrested today and remanded in 14 days’ judicial protection.
A police squad raided a lodge close the hospital and arrested Dr Ramakrishna Sarkar, Bankura police chief Pranab Kumar said. Sarkar, 26, is after Asansol.
An officer actual the chief judicial magistrate at the Bankura district court, Chiranjib Bhattacharya, remanded Sarkar in judicial care as this would “enable the rape victim to recognise the assailant in a test identification parade”.
Sarkar’s mother claimed he remained innocent. “He has been framed,” she said.
Taint on cop
A 29-year-old woman currently lodged a complaint in a Nadia court accusing an associate sub-inspector of repeatedly raping her.
She supposed the police officer had falsely promised to marry her.
District police Chief S.R. Mishra supposed the officer had remained suspended in October next an FIR by the woman but was restored because of a “lack of adequate number of officers”.
