It lurks just inches underneath the surface coiled and prepared to strike – and yet you wouldn’t distinguish it was there.
These extraordinary images show the huge 26-foot (eight metre) anacondas of Matos Grosso in Brazil penetrating for prey in the murky depths.
They were captured by brave diver and snake fanatic Franco Banfi, 53, who joined the beasts in their normal habitat equipped only with a camera.

In additional shot, Banfi gets up close to a huge anaconda that is lying on the riverbank and glistening in the ferocious tropical heat.
Gratefully for the photographer, it had just gobbled up a capybara rodent and be situated attentive in consuming him as a second sequence.
